Some dieters even said they lost as much as 20 pounds in 14 days. The Scarsdale diet was designed by Dr. Herman Tarnower. It would last for one to two weeks. 
 
Most of the weight you will lose will primarily be water weight. Alcohol is prohibited for those who are under the Scarsdale diet. If you will eat salads, you will only be allowed to eat those whose dressings are made from vinegar, lemon and mustard. Drinking water is greatly encouraged for those who are under this weight loss program. At least four glasses of water is required. This is important because water will help cleanse your body, and will increase metabolism. Under Scarsdale diet, you will be allowed to eat vegetables but there are some exceptions. You will not be allowed to eat corn, potatoes, beans and peas. You will also be allowed to use ketchup, herbs and soy sauce. Flour-based products are banned, including pastas. If you want to eat meat, you must not eat fatty parts and the skin. Desserts will also be prohibited such as ice cream, candy and cakes. 
 
What are the positive points of the Scarsdale diet? The menu plan provided by the Scarsdale diet is very specific; therefore it is very easy to use and to follow. If you need to lose weigh fast because of an upcoming event for instance, a wedding, debut or a vacation, this diet will really be helpful for you. One can lose weight rapidly, ideal enough for someone who is preparing to look good or sexy for an event. Another perk for the Scarsdale diet is that, it is easy to dine out.  
 
The negative side of this weight loss program is that, may dieters complain of feeling hungry and of feeling fatigue. The calorie intake of 700- 1000 calories a day is considerably low even for those individuals who are just moderately active. Those individuals who are very active may actually not find this diet very friendly to their lifestyle and their activities. This weight loss program must be continued or there must be a maintenance plan. If not, the person will easily gain back the extra pounds he or she lost.
